This small community hospital is seeking a full-time, permanent Clinical Pharmacist / PIC. The Pharmacist is responsible for all aspects of the hospital pharmacy. The Director of Pharmacy functions as a working pharmacist.


Clinical Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)


Responsible for planning, budgeting, directing and supervising pharmacy activities and personnel. Acts as a resource for all healthcare providers, and monitors efficacy and safety of medication administration.


Essential Functions Clinical Pharmacist in Charge (PIC):

  • Develops departmental goals and objectives and implements policies and procedures.
  • Reviews department performance, effects changes as needed to improve services provided and assures compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manages and oversees department budget.
  • Prepares, directs, and maintains departmental reports.
  • Coordinates the duties and assigns daily work assignments of all pharmacy staff.
  • Supervises inventory control to meet patient needs.
  • Selects vendors and directly inspects pharmaceutical items received.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations.
  • Conduct staff meetings, trainings, and orientation.
  • Establish work schedule and interviews/selects staff.

Qualifications of Clinical Pharmacist

  • Graduate of an accredited pharmaceutical program.
  • 1-2 years previous hospital experience preferred.
  • Current, unrestricted Pharmacist License from the AZ State Board of Pharmacy, or eligible to obtain.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of hospital-based pharmacy operations.
  • Ability to maintain and develop professional growth.
  • Establish and maintain solid working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
